Biography
Michelle Hahn received a Master of Library Science with a Music Librarianship Specialization from Indiana University, Bachelor of Music (cum laude) in Music Education from Ohio University, is currently pursuing a Master of Operation & Project Management at Southern New Hampshire University, and has pursued both Advanced Project Management and Innovation & Entrepreneurship certification from Stanford University.
She is currently the Assistant Librarian, Sound Recordings Cataloger at Indiana University, Bloomington. Prior to that, she was the Music Catalog Librarian and Interim Music Librarian at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
As an active member of the Music Library Association (MLA), Michelle serves as the Newsletter Editor, and the Assistant Web Editor for the International Association of Music Libraries and Documentation Centres (IAML).
She also serves as the Social Media Coordinator of the Music OCLC Users Group (MOUG) and is MOUG’s incoming Vice Chair/Chair-Elect. She has been an Editor-in-Chief for Music Reference Services Quarterly (MRSQ), the Continuing Education Coordinator for MOUG, and the Chair of the Texas chapter of MLA, as well as the Editor for MLA’s Copyright for Music Librarians website.
Her publications include: "Dreams from my Library," in Directions in Music Cataloging (Lisius & Griscom, eds.); "As Advertised: A Preliminary Look at Compiling and Comparing Title Lists from Music Article Indexes," Music Reference Services Quarterly (11)1. Her presentations include: “The FUTURE is NOW! Planning for and Learning from Large-Scale Media Preservation;” "Are You Close Enough? Libraries and Embedded Digital Humanities;" "Recital Round-Up: Wrangling Institutional Recordings in Texas;" and "The Paraprofessional MLS: (making the best of) Hiring, Engaging, and Retaining Professionals in Paraprofessional Positions."
Michelle has been an active member of Sigma Alpha Iota, an international women's music fraternity, at various levels including President of the Sigma Beta (Ohio University) and Dallas (Texas) Alumnae chapters, and National A/V Project Director.
